Wycliffe is a British television series, based on W. J. Burley's novels about Detective Superintendent Charles Wycliffe. It broadcast on the ITV Network and was created by HTV. The series has been filmed with a manufacturing office at Truro, in Cornwall. Music for the series has been awarded the Royal Television Society award for the greatest television theme and was written by Nigel Hess. Jack Shepherd plaies wycliffe.
Each episode deals with a murder investigation. At the series, the stories are accommodated from Burley's novels and so are in whodunit style, frequently using characters and plot elements. In subsequent periods, the tone gets more naturalistic and there was more emphasis on political within law enforcement.
