The Ren & Stimpy Show is the American television series, created by Canadian animator John Kricfalusi. The show premiered on August 1 1, 1991, on Nickelodeon as a portion of its Nicktoons block along with Rugrats and Doug. The series focuses on the titular personalities: Ren Höek, a mentally unstable chihuahua, also Stimpson J. Cat, a good natured, dimwitted kitty. The show ran for five seasons. The show has received critical acclaim and developed a cult following throughout and after while it is credited by others critics to playing a significant role in tv animation, also directing the method of satirical animated shows such as Beavis and butthead and South Park. For violence, sexual innuendo its offcolor humor, The Ren & Stimpy Show was contentious throughout its run, every one of which contributed to the generation staff's altercations with the Standards and Practices department of Nickelodeon. A spinoff for mature audiences, Ren & Stimpy"Adult Party Cartoon", aired in 2003 on Spike, but was cancelled soon after its introduction.
