In the ins 2015 of Victoria's reign, London is beset by the "Touched": people-- mainly females-- that all of a sudden materialize uncommon capacities, some charming, some extremely troubling. Amongst them are Amalia True, a mysterious, quick-fisted widow, and Penance Adair, a great young creator.
