Soap is an American sitcom that originally ran on ABC into 1981 by 1977. The series was created as a parody of soap operas, presented like a weekly prime time comedy. Comparable to some soap opera, the series's story included melodramatic plot elements like demonic possession, alien abduction, murder, and kidnapping and was presented in a sequential format.
Back in 2007 it was listed as one of Time magazine"100 Greatest television shows of alltime," and at 2010, the Tates and the Campbells ranked at number 17 in TV Guide's list of"TV's Top Families".
The series was created, written, and also executive produced by Susan Harris, and also executive produced by Paul Junger Witt and Tony Thomas. Each season was countered with a retrospective of their season. Two of those retrospectives were made available on VHS in 1994.
85 episodes were aired by the series on the span of four seasons. The final four episodes of this series aired throughout the initial run on ABC as one-hour episodes. These hour-long episodes were divided in 2, yielding 9 3 half-dozen episodes for syndication.
All episodes are available on region 1 DVD in four vessel collections. The series contains rerun on cable as well as on syndicated channels on TV Land and Comedy Central. It conducted on Antenna TV over-the-air television, until December 30th, 2012.
