From the Heat of the Night is a American television show based on publication and also the motion picture of the same name starring Howard Rollins as the African American police detective, and Carroll O'Connor since the white police chief William Gillespie Virgil Tibbs. This had been broadcast until 1992, and then on CBS until 1995. Its producers were Juanita Bartlett Fred Silverman and Carroll O'Connor.
