Amazon has been a television show created by Peter Benchley. It was developed by manufacturing companies Alliance Atlantis Communications & WIC Entertainment and German firm Beta Film GmbH. The 22 episodes of this series were in syndication between 1999 and 2000.
The play series focused on both survivors of a airline flight at the Amazon jungle. The group soon comes in to contact with a Native American tribe, and also connections are anything but friendly. A tribe, who also descended from century British colonists who were lost from Amazon takes in the group. Relations with the Chosen are tenuous at best. Most of the group escapes the Chosen to wake up a hornets nest with a tribe of cannibals, headed by an insane American woman bent on domination of the regional tribes. The season ended in a cliff hanger, and also a second season was not produced. The series retained interest that was sufficient that it had been released in 2011 on DVD.
A novelization of this 2-hour pilot was compiled by Rob MacGregor, and also there was also a paperback released by Harper on 8 Aug 2000.
The title has been Amazonas - Gefangene des Dschungels.
