Baptista, a rich Paduan merchant, announces that his fair young daughter, Bianca, will remain unwed before her older sister, Katharina, a hellish shrew, has wed.. Lucentio, the son of a Pisan merchant and also a student, has fallen in love with Bianca. He presents as a tutor of music and poetry to be close Bianca and to obtain entry to the Baptista loved ones. Meanwhile, Petruchio arrives in Padua, expecting to capture a wife. Yet another suitor of Bianca, hortensio, directs Petruchio's awareness of Katharina. Petruchio is contested when Hortensio warns him concerning the scolding tongue and fiery temper of Katharina and resolves to capture her love. Hortensio and the other suitor of Bianca, Gremio, accept pay for Petruchio's costs as he pursues Katharina.
