Young Bruno be-friends a boy who lives on the reverse side of their fence where everybody else appears to be wearing striped pajamas, Shmuel when his family moves to a dwelling in Poland from their home in Berlin. Unacquainted with Shmuel's fate as a Jewish prisoner or the character his own daddy plays with his imprisonment, Bruno embarks on a journey inside the walls of the camp.
