Stalag 17
It's a Christmas 1944 for the American POWs at Stalag 17. For the men in Barracks 4, most of sergeants, have to take care of a problem - there looks like a security escape. The Germans appear to get forewarned about leaks and at the most recent effort the 2 men, Johnson and Manfredi, walked into a snare and were killed. For many in Barracks 4, notably the loud-mouthed Duke, the leaker is obvious: J.J. Sefton, a wheeler-dealer who does not hesitate to trade with the guards and also who's acquired goods and privileges that no other captive seemingly own. Sefton makes it quite clear that he does not have any intention of ever trying to flee which simplifies providing any information to the Germans. He plans to ride out the war in however it doesn't extend to spying for the Germans.
