In 1942, within a inhabited Paris, the grocer Edmond Batignole lives with his wife and kid in a small apartment in the building of the grocery store. After his along with collaborator of this German Pierre-Jean Lamour calls the Jewish Bernstein family to be arrested by the Nazis , they proceed to the apartment that is confiscated. A few days after, the Simon Bernstein involves his former dwelling and escapes against the Germans. If Batignole finds himhe feels sorry for the boy and lodges him, concealing Simon from Pierre-Jean and also from his wife. Later, he is met by two cousins of Simon at the grocery's cellar. When Pierre-Jean finds the kiddies, Batignole decides to traveling with the kids to Switzerland.
