At the days following the surrender of Germany in May 1945, a number of young German prisoners of war were paid to the Danish authorities and subsequently sent out to the westcoast , where they were ordered to take away the more than two million mines that the Germans had placed in the sand across the coast. With their bare hands the boys were forced to execute the job that was dangerous under the sergeant, Carl Leopold Rasmussen's leadership.
