Inspired by the 1951 nonfiction accounts by psycho-analyst Georges Devereux,"Psychotherapy Of A Plains Indian," the film follows the true story of Picard (Del Toro), a Plains Indian of the Blackfeet state, as he profits from WWII and begins experiencing unexplainable symptoms briefly afterwards. He travels into the famous cold temperatures Hospital in Topeka, Kansas, at which he meets Devereux (Amalric), thus beginning a skilled and personal friendship guided by compassion and understanding of Native American culture.
