Exhibition on Screen: Canaletto & the Art of Venice
Canaletto & the Art of Venice, an immersive voyage into the life and art of Venice's most famous view-painter, will kick off the fifth season of EXHIBITION ON SCREEN (EOS). Canaletto, whose full name was Giovanni Antonio Canal, is often regarded as the artist who best encapsulates the character and allure of Venice. The extraordinary collection of more than two hundred paintings, drawings, and prints that are currently on exhibit provides visitors with an unrivaled look into the craftsmanship of Canaletto and his contemporaries, as well as the city that Canaletto became an expert at documenting. In addition, viewers are given the opportunity to see two official royal homes, namely Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, in order to have a deeper understanding of both the artist and Joseph Smith, the one who was responsible for bringing Canaletto to Britain.
