A young man has sex with a woman who is older than he is, He wants to kill her husband because he is so angry at him. They strangle the husband one night when he had enough sake to drink and was in bed. Then they dump his body down a well. She makes it look like her husband has gone to Tokyo to work so that no one will think anything is wrong. For three years, the wife and her lover see each other in secret. They do not tell anyone. Finally, suspicions grow very strong, and people start gossiping and gossiping about each other, too. To make things even worse, her husband's ghost starts to haunt her and the law comes to look into her husband's disappearance.
