A Very Long Engagement

In 1919, Mathilde had been 19 years of age. Her fiancé Manech left for the front. Like countless others he was"killed on the field of battle" It's written in white and black on the official note. However, Mathilde refuses to believe it. If Manech had died, she'd know. She hangs on to her intuition too tightly as she'd onto hope's thread linking her lover.
