Subsequent to the passing of her father, LV or Small Voice becomes a virtual recluse, never going outside and barely saying a sentence. She sits in her bedroom listening to her dad's set of older recordings of Marilyn Monroe, Shirley Bassey and other famous singers. But at night time, LV sings, imitating these excellent singers. One night she is overheard by one of her mum's boyfriends, that appears to be a talent agent. He arranges for her to perform at the nearby night club and manages to convince her talent is special, however, problems arise.
