The actor once called the Funniest Man and his troupe are going to be executed to its atrocities committed throughout the Civil War in Finland. Jaeger Lieutenant Nyborg, an admirer of both all Parikka, suspects that a definite miscarriage of justice. He wants to spare the actors. He is provided by the coming visit of the German General von der Goltz to the prison island with a suitable prospect. Nyborg suggests that the celebrities prepare a funny performance for visitors and not be shot. Instead, they will be given a fresh trial. Preparing a humor in the circumstances, in the midst of death and hunger, seems quite an overwhelming undertaking. Only a small number of celebrities are still living, the remainder of the troupe contains stagehands. Parikka has to use all of his imaginative skills to be able to produce something funny.
