Oogway battles a bull enemy named Kai in the spirit realm, who has defeated all the other kung fu masters in the realm and stolen their chi. Oogway is also entangled and his chi is stolen, but he warns Kai that the Dragon Warrior, Po, will stop him. Kai accepts this as a challenge and returns to the mortal realm to steal the Dragon Warrior's chi. Meanwhile, Master Shifu announces his retirement from teaching and entrusts Po with the position of teacher. Po, initially overjoyed, discovers that teaching kung fu is not as simple as he imagined, injuring the Furious Five. Po feels depressed by his failure, but Shifu tells him to focus on being himself instead of attempting to be a teacher. Po goes home, where he encounters a panda named Li Shan, whom he and Li Shan discover is Po's long-lost biological father. They form an immediate bond, much to Mr. Ping's envy.
