Nathan Walker is a young man from Chicago Heights, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago located many miles south of the city center. Every day, he becomes entangled in the lives of his neighbors. They're people who are courteous, friendly, and down-to-earth. Individuals in each society, however, have their own private interests that their neighbors are unaware of. Each has a terrible secret, a broken dream, a debilitating fear. We watch as the layers peel away from this seemingly random assortment of ordinary folks who, beneath their rehearsed, Christian facades, are extraordinarily human.
