In the 1930s, Adam and his friends are part of a social group known to the press – who follow their every move – as the "Bright Young Things," who are eccentric, wild, and completely shocking to the older generation. Among the craziness, Adam, who is well-connected but completely broke, is desperately trying to raise enough money to marry the lovely Nina. While his attempts to raise funds are constantly thwarted, their friends appear to self-destruct one by one in an endless search for newer and faster sensations. Finally, when world events beyond their control collide with them, they are forced to rethink their lives and what they value most.
