Anne Shirley, now a school teacher, has begun collecting rejection slips and writing stories. She makes the acquaintance of a handsome, rich, mentor, chases a cow, and wins (for her chagrin) a baking soda company's writing competition. She neglects Gilbert Blythe's union proposal, and behaves as Diana's maid of honour. Which directs her to teach Kingsport Ladies' College, an exclusive girls school, where she meets opposition in a number of those teachers, Miss Brooke, and also the Pringle clan (one of whom's really just a rich, handsome mentor ). However, while Anne enjoys the conflict, and the friends she makes, she contributes to Avonlea.
