At the start of the 20th century, China is at a situation of catastrophe. The country is split into warring factions, the taxpayers are famished, and governmental reforms have left things worse, not better. The Qing Dynasty, directed with a emperor, along with his callous mother, Empress Dowager Longyu is out of touch after 250 decades of unquestioned power. Huang Xing has recently came back from Japan, where he has studied the art of war. When he discovers his own country falling apart, he believes he's got no choice except to grab the sword.
